In order to create both a harmonious AND highly-productive environment in my fast growing company, I focus on balancing skills and personalities to create an optimial mix of expertise and perspective. In order to do this successfully, it's essential to understand employees’ "professional personalities" (e.g. their reward matrix, work preferences and communication style).
Here's how it works:
Hiring managers at Change3 seek to have an idea of skill, experience AND professional personality so they can best choose people that are going to fit well into our unique environment and well established culture.
To streamline this process, my team and I developed an online application process that profiles each applicant as part of the screening and interviewing process.
We also asked our existing staff to take part in the professional personality screening process as well, allowing us to create a baseline and get a clear picture of the traits of the team already in place.
Proof point: By being able to choose people that have the skills and the personality fit to make meaningful contributions to my team, I have been able to hire more than 10 new delightful experts in the last few months - without creating havoc inside my budding company.
